Hormone Therapy: Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going

The medical and social landscape surrounding hormone therapy for menopausal symptoms has been challenging. Narratives touting hormone therapy as the “fountain of youth” were quickly reversed when the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) Study discontinued the estrogen/progesterone treatment arm of the study due to breast cancer risk that exceeded safety thresholds.

Sadly, more than 2 decades later, providers and patients continue to be fearful of prescribing and using HT. However, since the release of the WHI in 2002, extensive research has shed light on the many questions raised by these initial trials.

This webinar with Dr. Carla DiGirolamo will review the history of hormone therapy use, Menopause Society recommendations, and what’s on the horizon for future study.
